Letter Home

Dear Parents,

How are you doing this week? We have been doing great. Read on to learn about our week. First we finished our salmon maps. Did you know that salmon eggs are hatched in gravel and when they are born they have an egg sack. Each of us placed where the salmon where born, the predators, dams, and how far they had to swim to the ocean on our maps. Next we studying how to compare and contrast different subjects. We have started to use a vein diagram to organize our thinking. Over all this week has been busy.

Sincerely,

Your Cool Kid

Classification Work

Animal Classificaition

Letter Home

September 10, 2010

Dear Parents,

We are learning many different things everyday. First we have been learning about animal classification. We have researched facts about mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, and fish. After finding the facts we made a power point with pictures and other information. All of us thought it was really fun. Another thing we have done this week is take tests. We took a reading test and a spelling test. Our class learned how to graph our scores in our data folders. Finally we learned new lessons in math. We reviewed doubles, plus one and plus zero. Also we reviewed how to tell time to the nearest ½ hour and talked about missing addends. In conclusion we had a very exciting, fun week.

Sincerely

Your Kid

Salmon Fest.

Hello,

We will be taking a trip to the Salmon Festival on the 16th of this month. The Salmon Fest takes place in Leavenworth and in the past has been a great trip. This trip fits into our studies of animal classification and Native Americans. We will be taking a van and a suburban to save money. I will drive one vehicle and the other will be driven by a bus driver. If you are interested in joining us, I think it may be necessary for you to drive your own vehicle. I would like to have at least two parents on our trip. Look for permission slips coming home today.

Thank you,

Parent Letter

Dear Parents,

We are working very hard already and having a great time. You are about to find out three different things that happened this week. First we started using computers. Every person in our class made a map using a program called Arcview GIS. We loved it! Also we made graphs using Excel. Each of us also have cards with our password and username so that we can get onto a really cool reading site at home. Go to the blog to find the link. Another thing we learned about was our morning meeting. At morning meeting we say good morning to everyone in class, flag salute, and do morning math. Some of us are in charge of leading the flag salute or saying our norms. Norms are tell us how to treat others and how we should act. Finally we are learning about different habits. We learned about being proactive which means we are in charge of your attitude, actions ,and product. Also we started to learn about putting first things first. We are writing a mission statement that we will share with you when it is done. In conclusion we had a fun first three days.

Sincerely,

Your New Third Grader
